Using the Black Soldier Fly as our hero, The BUG Picture takes other peoples’ organic waste and turns it into protein for animal feed (fish, chicken, pigs, pets) and high quality organic plant fertiliser and compost. We reduce the cost of production for livestock while increasing quanlity. We substantially reduce the CO2 emissions from landfill each year through upcycling it into something valuable. We create healthy soils to increase crop yields to contribute towards feeding the future. We are a regenerative agriculture company, that is revolutionizing the way people view insect based protein to create a locally produced, competitively priced protein source that is environmentally sustainable to farm. We are Africans, passionate about Africa and bringing an African approach to a global problem. By 2050 the population of East Africa will double. In this same period, the demand for meat will more than double in line with increased socioeconomic factors. We want to be part of the solution of food and feed for the future, using fewer natural resources without destroying our planet in the process. With a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, we have all come together around the idea that regenerative agriculture can help to solve a number of the challenges being faced around the continent. We believe that nutrition, education and jobs, in harmony with the environment, are three key pillars to uplifting our people to new levels of self sufficiency and prosperity. In essence, this is a sustainable, recycling circular business system which takes rubbish and turns PROTEIN and FERTILISER, solving 4 of the major environmental crises of our time.
