The Captain Tom Foundation was founded in May 2020 following Captain Tom’s heroic efforts to raise money for the NHS during the first lockdown when his 100 laps of the garden raised an astonishing £38.9 million. Carrying on his journey, and as a result of the unprecedented support he and his family have received, The Captain Tom Foundation has been set up to continue to inspire people and ensure Tom’s message of hope becomes an enduring legacy. The “Captain Tom effect” reached well beyond his own charity walk. His actions inspired the fundraising of many more millions of pounds, throughout the world and The Foundation wishes to inspire a new generation of Captain Toms. The Foundation's mission is to unite the nation and spread hope as we face the next few weeks together.
