The CentRE

The Center for Empowerment, iNnovation and Training on Renewable Energy (CentRE) is a not-for-profit public interest association of 25 non-government organizations (NGOs), renewable energy developers or enterprises, electric cooperatives, academic centers, labor and youth organizations, and individuals engaging in just energy transition, climate justice, inclusive and sustainable development, and good governance. These energy industry stakeholders united under a common vision of an inclusive and sustainable society where people and communities live in dignity, control their energy future, and enjoy access to reliable, affordable and clean energy through a transition that is just and democratic. Formed on 24 October 2018, the CentRE aspires to serve as a hub for renewable energy technology and social innovation, policy studies, advocacy and community empowerment with a view of achieving 100 percent renewable energy in the Philippines towards a sustainable and meaningful social and ecological transformation in the country. The CentRE engages in capacity building - such as for local government units, electric cooperatives, youth and women, - knowledge production and sharing, policy advocacy, innovation, and gender mainstreaming towards acceleration of RE deployment and utilization, and in pursuit of inclusive, just and sustainable energy transition in the country. Together with Singapore-based Forum for the Future, the CentRE co-leads the secretariat of the Responsible Energy Initiative in the Philippines (REI-Philippines).
