The Cockpit Method was founded in 2020, during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, with a single mission: to help others benefit from the years of training it takes to become a commercial airline pilot. WHY THE COCKPIT METHOD? In March 2020 I was made redundant when the airline I was flying for entered administration. This was the second time in my flying career that I had lost my wings, through no fault of my own. I entered a period of reflection where I looked at my transferable skills to see what I could do next. I realised that the skills I had learned over the past decade would be invaluable to any industry outside of aviation, skills such as Risk Management, Decision Making and Communication. We can all think of a time when we have made a wrong decision, perhaps because we didn't consider all the options or didn't correctly diagnose the problem in the first place. In the cockpit, rushed or ill- thought-out decisions can have dire consequences, which is why pilots receive such rigorous training. We have distilled the key elements of an effective cockpit to provide an authentic framework that you can make part of your business today.
