About The Cooking Project
The Cooking Project’s goal has always been to teach the youth the fundamentals of cooking, through a fun, accessible and community-oriented approach. By focusing on delicious, inexpensive dishes from diverse cultural traditions, our community of chefs, writers, home cooks, and farmers seeks to demystify the culture of food, make good food more accessible, and equip young people to successfully take on challenges in the kitchen and out. Our "Food Studies Program" is a 6-10 class series which encompasses the Technical, Conceptual and Practical Approaches to cooking, and highlight food themes which exist inside and outside of the kitchen. Students who complete the series of classes, receive our official Certificate of Completion as well as the option to obtain a Food Handler’s Certification and receive Vocational Training in our network of restaurants and food businesses.
