The Cool Foundation

The Cool Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in terms of the Non-Profit Organisations Act No. 71 of 1997. By definition, a non-profit organisation is: a trust, company or other association of persons, established for a public purpose. The Cool Foundation began in the early 2000s as a movement among friends, encouraging the youth of Zwelitsha and Breidbach townships in the Eastern Cape, to express themselves creatively through poetry jam sessions and cyphers. This initiative provided young people with the opportunity to use their time constructively, exploring their creativity and expanding their perspectives on a range of topics. Over time, this passion for the development of young people has evolved into what is now called, The Cool Foundation. The Cool Foundation is passionate about the holistic development of young people, particularly schoolchildren, in South Africa. We believe that basic education is essential, which is why we limit our support to schools, where we step in to assist their sports, arts, and cultural departments.
