Did you know that there are 29.1 million people with type 2 diabetes in the US alone? There are an additional 86 million people in the US with prediabetes. That’s right—1 in 3 Americans has prediabetes!.
Our mission is to impact the lives of people with prediabetes—to increase awareness of the disease and the importance of diagnosis, and motivate healthy behaviors that can help prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. Dare Two will achieve this goal by applying the Design Thinking process of research, ideation, testing and implementation to create solutions that make a difference in the fight to prevent type 2 diabetes.
To achieve our mission, Dare Two will focus on 3 main areas:
Activation:
• Raising awareness of the type 2 diabetes crisis
• Providing access to free or low-cost testing and diagnosis
• Increasing the percentage of diagnosed prediabetics by promoting the primary benefit of early diagnosis—many people can reverse prediabetes
Understanding:
• Engaging in sociological and ethnographic research to identify behaviors and triggers that make people susceptible to developing prediabetes and type 2 diabetes
(Behavioral) Design:
• Designing programs that help those with prediabetes change behaviors and work toward preventing diabetes
• Supporting other organizations to develop products and programs that are consistent with our mission to reverse prediabetes and help prevent type 2 diabetes in the US
