About The Dr. Yum Project
At the Dr. Yum Project, we empower families and communities to overcome barriers to healthy eating with practical, evidence-based programs with a positive, developmental approach to feeding and nutrition. Founded by a pediatrician and designed by experts in child development, feeding therapy, and nutrition, we help kids build the lifelong skill of enjoying nourishing foods. How We Achieve Impact: Dr. Yum’s Food Adventure Our innovative, evidence-based curriculum, used in schools across 41 states and three countries, integrates child development principles and feeding therapy techniques into food education for 3 to 8-year-olds to reframe the picky eating paradigm. By helping all children, regardless of background or ability, to "practice" and enjoy nourishing foods, we increase healthy food consumption and reduce food waste both at school and at home. This scalable, multigenerational model helps create more equitable access to foundational good nutrition while fostering wellness, environmental stewardship, and a more nourished future for all children. Touchpoints Our customizable program of health behavior modules that pediatricians can offer to patients right in their office. It is family-centered, weight-neutral, and billable. Dr. Yum Physican Partners are in 32 states. Technology Tools Our website, DoctorYum.org is an ecosystem of free nutrition information for families, kids, teachers, and physicians. Highlights include our recipe catalog of over 220 recipes. Tools like Dr. Yum's Meal-o-Matic allow users to make a custom recipe with foods available at home. We feature blogs and articles written by a variety of experts and printable downloads for families, physicians & food distribution sites in English & Spanish. We are proud to be a Council Member of Tufts University’s Food and Nutrition Innovation Council and a founding member of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s “Veggies Early and Often” campaign, advancing child nutrition on a national scale.
