THE GERMAN ACADEMY

The German Academy was established in 2015 with the aim to connect everyone interested in the German language through language lessons, experiences and events. We promote German language learning, bilingualism, and cross-cultural understanding on a non-profit basis. We are professionals with roots in the German speaking countries and many years of experience in running language establishments and teaching German in the UK and beyond. We build and support German language schools, classes, and events with low-cost, effective, and adaptable management systems. The outcome is quality teaching and active and affordable language education for all ages and abilities. We put the learner in the centre and offer a big selection of face-to-face and online courses reaching from short thematic courses to intensive courses for beginners, private lessons, and exam preparation courses. Nine German Saturday Schools are part of the German Academy, and we work closely with the Association of German Saturday Schools UK. Currently, The German Academy counts over 1000 students. We are supported by the German Embassy London and funded primarily by contributions, and the huge commitment and engagement of our teachers, parents, and students. The German Academy is a licensed telc exam centre and regularly runs internationally recognised telc exams based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). We also run regular events and course weeks in the UK and in the German speaking countries – ski weeks, summer adventure and action weeks, a Sommerfest, summer school weeks, a big St. Martin’s celebration for the whole community, and more!
