The Hijabi Mentorship Program (THMP)

The Hijabi Mentorship Program (THMP) is a young women-led registered Community Based Organization formed in 2018 to respond to champions for gender justice in under-served communities in Kwale County. The organization works solely within Kwale County and seeks to; 1. To contribute to prevention of SGBV, effective response and increased support for survivors of SGBV 2. To promote enjoyment of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) by girls and women 3. To increase access to economic resources and opportunities among women and young people 4. To enhance women and youth participation in anti-radicalization peace building processes at community level 5. To build a sustainable organization that is effective and efficient in delivering its mandate The organization exists to empower women and girls by creating enabling environments for them and supporting them with information and resources to ensure that they become positive, and active drivers of change in their own lives. Our current area of focus is Kwale County that covers an area of 8267 km2. The county has a population of 866,820 (female-441,681, male-425,121 and intersex-18) according to the latest Kenya census results (2019). 85.4% of the community resides in the rural areas. We target women, girls and young people irrespective of their culture, faith/religion.
