About The Hind

The Hind is an independent institution based in Delhi NCR, India, founded with a singular mission: to reimagine how India is studied, understood, and engaged with—by its own citizens and by the world. At a time when global challenges demand deep cultural intelligence and historical insight, The Hind seeks to position India not merely as a subject of academic interest, but as a source of ideas, frameworks, and leadership for the twenty-first century. Our mission is to build a new field of Applied India Studies—one that goes beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries to explore India’s civilisational heritage, cultural complexity, and contemporary transformations. We believe that education should not only produce knowledge, but shape the kinds of leaders, thinkers, and practitioners who can navigate—and shape—the Indian experience from within. The Hind operates through three interconnected verticals: The Hind School, which delivers immersive, interdisciplinary education through fellowships and short-term programs; The Hind Think Tank, which advances research, writing, and policy analysis rooted in Indian realities; and The Hind Fund, which supports grassroots cultural exploration and enables inclusive participation in India-centred learning. Inspired by global models like the Rhodes Scholarship, Yenching Academy, and the College of Europe, The Hind offers a distinctive institutional model—one that is globally minded, but firmly rooted in Indian contexts. Our goal is not to replicate existing paradigms, but to create a new one: an Indian institution for the world, built on the principles of intellectual freedom, field-based learning, and cultural integrity. In its essence, The Hind is more than a school or a think tank. It is a platform for India to think, teach, and lead—on its own terms, and for its own future.
