About the Interventional Initiative
We founded the Interventional Initiative to educate and engage the public and clinicians about the value of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures (MIIPs). By using medical imaging to see inside the body in real time, specialized healthcare professionals can treat major diseases with MIIPs through a tiny pinhole, allowing patients to return to their lives sooner. Despite their benefits, MIIPs remain underrecognized by both patients and healthcare providers. Studies show that patients empowered with the knowledge to make the right healthcare decisions for themselves have better health outcomes. We believe that every patient deserves the knowledge to make informed, personalized healthcare decisions. Through multimedia outreach, clinician education, and evidence-based patient resources, we work to bridge this gap—advancing awareness to improve patient access to MIIPs. Our Initiatives: * Patient Decision Aids: We provide evidence-based, plain language tools designed to help patients understand complex medical information, facilitating informed decisions about their healthcare. * Scratch Pads: These visual aids assist clinicians in explaining procedures, enhancing patient comprehension and supporting meaningful discussions about treatment options. * iCONSENT Curriculum: A program aimed at helping clinicians optimize their communication with patients considering a procedure. * Award-Winning Docu-Series: Without a Scalpel showcases the experiences of real patients who undergo MIIPs by specially trained doctors, highlighting the transformative impact of MIIPs on patients' lives. * Patient Experience Podcast: In collaboration with BackTable Podcast, this series features patients sharing their experiences with MIIPs, offering insights into their journeys and advice for both clinicians and fellow patients. Connect with us in our mission to make minimally invasive, image-guided procedures known and accessible to all.
