About The Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance

Founded in 1997, The Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance (JOH) is the sole institution built by and for the LGBTQ+ community in Jerusalem. The JOH is invested in three main areas of life: physical and mental health and wellbeing, community building for and by the community, and social change via local and national political activism and policy change, as well as creating new generations of activists which include government ministers, diplomats, and workshop leaders who continue to influence the entire country. We proudly represent over 100,000 individuals in Jerusalem and its surroundings (following the statistical fact of 1 in every 10 individuals is found on the LGBTQ+ spectrum), and we have directly impacted the lives of over 20,000 LGBTQ+ members through our invaluable resources and programming. We champion intersectionality by engaging with a myriad of communities, including but not limited to secular Jews, religious and ultra-Orthodox Jews, Palestinians and Arab Israelis, recent immigrants, foreign workers, and temporary residents.
