Al Mizan Project

Mizan is an Arabic word that comes from the Quranic verse 55:7 'Wa wada'a al-mizan', which translates to 'And he placed the balance'. This verse refers to Allah's act of establishing a balance or equilibrium in the creation of the universe. We are a group of MIT students of the professional certificate in Sustainability, our team analyzes single-use plastic bottles waste management and circular solutions at Makkah. The project is organized in several phases, including a short-term stage for reducing PET bottles use through collection and recycling structures and people engagement through awareness programs and a long-term stage for the replacement of single-used bottles with alternative materials containers.
