The Old Library, Dubai

The Old Library is Dubai's leading English Language Lending Library with over 1800 family and individual members. It is a not-for-profit organisation which is run entirely by volunteers as a service to the Dubai community. The Library is located at Gold & Diamond Park, Building 7, Dubai, UAE. As the oldest English Language Library in the country, predating even the establishment of the UAE, the Old Libary has a significant place in Dubai's history. It was founded in 1969 during the trucial states times with a gift of books from Lady Verney of Eaton Square in London. Originally operating under the name- Dubai Lending Library, donations of books from commercial companies and members of the expatriate community enabled the library to flourish. The Library today has a collection of over 26,000 books for Adults, Teenagers and Children; ranging from General Fiction, General Reference, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Romance, Classics and the Middle East.
