The Paddock

The Paddock itself is my family's 6 acre smallholding which we have owned since 2002, based on the beautiful Northumberland/Gateshead border. This has provided the starting point for my business which I started in 2013, age 23, after travelling New Zealand for two years and learning a great deal about sustainable living through volunteering on eco farms and projects with conservation at the heart of what they do. I was so impressed with what I learned while away, that I came home with the idea of turning our smallholding into more than just a way of life, but also a job I could feel proud and passionate about. The Paddock was set up with the aim to bring local, fresh, seasonal, homegrown, homemade and organically sourced (wherever possible) food to the doors of local people throughout Gateshead, Newcastle, County Durham and Northumberland through a delivery service! On 6th April 2016, we opened the doors of our Farm Shop in High Spen, in the same building my granda used for our family business from 1983, a building steeped in history. The Paddock Farm Shop stocks a fantastic range of local produce which can also be pre-ordered for collection! We are a small, independent, family run business, passionate about what we do with a focus on ethical, sustainable, organic local food with a zero waste ethos.
