About The P.U.S.H.

Did you know? More women die in childbirth in the U.S. compared to other developed countries. In recent years, the maternal mortality ratio has more than doubled. Over 80% of these deaths are preventable. That number increases to 90% in states like Texas. Racial disparity is a continued concern with higher morbidity and mortality rates among women of color, despite socio-economic status. A growing number of women present with chronic conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity, which contribute to pregnancy-related complications. These women could benefit from the closer coordination of antenatal and primary care – including case management and other community-based services that help them access care and overcome cost and other obstacles. In the United States, women who lack health insurance are three to four times more likely to die of pregnancy-related complications than their insured counterparts. With PUSH, we can change the narrative! The Perinatal Unit for Systems of Health™ (The P.U.S.H.), formerly known as PUSH Birth Partners®, was established in 2020 with a mission to support women and families through pregnancy and beyond. As we celebrate our fifth year, we proudly introduced our 2025-2028 Strategic Plan—an ambitious blueprint of transformation, renewal, and future vision. Our Mission To support women and families through pregnancy and beyond with integrative care models and community partnerships—aiming for lasting change and generational health. Our Vision A world where every woman, child, and family flourishes through the provision of safe, supported, and transformative birth experiences.
