The Plates App is an entrepreneurial venture founded in 2018 aiming to help restaurants bring great, inclusive experiences to customers with diverse tastes. In light of the challenges presented by COVID-19, we are interested in learning how we can help restaurants through this difficult time. Ultimately, in terms of fundamental value, what we tangibly want to do for smaller scale local restaurants in particular is to help them increase their bottom line (without them having to sacrifice control of their guest end-to-end experience) by leveraging technology to... (1) reduce decision fatigue and avoidably burdensome communication by narrowing options/offerings calibrated to the guest’s food palate that’s pre-vetted by their network (of their friends and of anyone with the food palate they are constraining their decisions with) & legitimized on the back of trusted verified credible sources; (2) maximize the number of best bang-for-your-buck items sold per worker-hour and deliver valuable timely feedback by facilitating inclusive group/shared dining experiences that bridge the gap between the needs of guests (and/or guest parties) and the offerings of restaurant providers + local surrounding experiences.
