The idea for "THE Protocol" started with a tweet from Vitalik Buterin, in which he jokingly suggested that someone should create a project called "THE Protocol", so that their shills can say "Look, so-and-so mentioned THE!" pretty much any time anyone says anything. Within 30 minutes of the tweet, the contract of the token "$THE" was created and it quickly gained 5000 holders and started getting listed on tier 1 centralized exchanges. This unexpected reaction to the tweet inspired the team behind "THE Protocol" to turn this joke into a reality and create a decentralized ecosystem that the entire $THE community can participate in.
