The Selective began as a way to bridge the gap between our passions of business and fashion. With over 7 years of experience buying and selling luxury goods privately, we believed a platform like the Selective was missing in the luxury eCommerce space. The experience of our customers was always the main priority. With retail shopping steadily declining, we hoped to bring all of our favourite parts of shopping physically, online. A big part of the business is the curation of the items we provide. We wanted to curate a selection of the best items from all different platforms and make them available in one place. This was important to us as we wanted to remove the tedious task of “hunting” for long periods of time only to often come out empty-handed. At The Selective, our focus is to have a large selection of great, authenticated, pieces, while simultaneously being user friendly and providing our customers with the best possible experience. As a business, we value sustainability immensely. The fashion industry is notorious for its highly wasteful nature. Our platform focuses on mostly selling pre-owned goods, therefore finding a home for these items with someone who will continue to enjoy them instead of disposing of them. We hope this space will continue to grow and further reduce the demand for new clothing and more waste.
