The Self-Determination Fund is a First Peoples owned and controlled resource, designed by and for First Peoples of Victoria. The Self-Determination Fund is overseen by the First People's Assembly of Victoria and operates independently from the Victorian state government.
The Self-Determination Fund promotes First Peoples’ economic development, both through the Treaty process and into the future.
The main purposes of the fund are,
• Equal Footing in Treaty Negotiations for Traditional Owners in Victoria - to support Traditional Owners to enter Treaty negotiations with the State Government on a more level playing field, and
• Wealth and Prosperity of all First Peoples in Victoria – to be a resource to help First Peoples to build capacity, wealth, and prosperity for current and future generations.
