7 Design Studio We design and manufacture architectural decor products made. When John Ruskin wrote his book The Seven Lamps of Architecture, little did he know that it will inspire architects and designers for generations to come and we are no exception. Even the name of our company draws inspiration from this masterpiece. Seven Designs has imbibed the seven principles of architecture and made them the cornerstones on which the company is built. The seven ‘lamps’ or principles - sacrifice, truth, power, beauty, life, memory and obedience are upheld as sacrosanct by us and they are the essence of all our products from conception to execution. Here’s our modern-day adaptation of the seven principles: Sacrifice - dedication of our craft to our customer, as visible proof of love and craftsmanship Truth – handcrafted and honest display of materials and structure Power – buildings should be thought of in terms of their tastefulness and reach towards the sublimity of nature by the action of the human mind upon them and the organization of creative and physical effort in design and execution Beauty – aspiration is drawn from the customer’s requirements; inspiration is drawn from nature Life – architectural decor should be made by human hands so that the joy of designers and craftsmen is associated with the expressive freedom given them Memory – designs should respect the culture from which they have developed Obedience – no originality for its own sake, but conforming to the finest among existing patterns in the world around us So here we are as Seven Designs, carrying a huge responsibility on our shoulders to live up to the seven principles that drive and inspire us.
