The aim of The Smart Network is to help low income, BME students realise that their universities and degrees do not limit the outcome of their careers. There are many opportunities available but students are hamstrung by their lack of networks. Those students who go to top tier universities obtain the desired jobs not because they are inherently more capable, rather they have stronger networks in place. The Smart Network provides a mentoring scheme that connects industry professionals with ambitious university students in London by facilitating a series of networking sessions. By connecting young students with inspirational role models in this way, we boost their confidence, industry knowledge and long-term employability.
