The Tech Hub CIC

The Tech Hub charity was established in response to the urgent need for laptops during the 2020 Coronavirus lockdowns. Green Machine, the organization behind Tech Hub, launched the Tech Amnesty campaign, calling for public donations of unwanted devices to be refurbished and provided to students who lacked accessible technology for remote learning. The campaign gained momentum, resulting in the collection, repair, refurbishment, and donation of over 600 devices in 2020. The impact of these donations was immeasurable, preventing educational setbacks for many recipients. Recognizing that the digital divide extended beyond children, Green Machine expanded their donations to include charities, non-profit organizations, refugees, children's hospitals, domestic abuse survivors, adults with learning difficulties, and sustainable non-profit companies. The Tech Hub's main objectives are to bridge the skills and opportunities gap for disadvantaged individuals and prevent hazardous materials from entering landfills. Restoring laptops not only eliminates the need for new purchases, which consume valuable resources and produce harmful emissions but also addresses the adverse consequences of digital poverty, such as reduced earnings, limited job prospects, increased expenses, and decreased access to services, mental health support, and social connections. To support the Tech Hub's mission, individuals can donate their old electronics at secure drop-off sites, become donation sites, contribute funds, make cash donations, and help spread awareness about the initiative.
