About The Tiny Studio, where art meets design

The Tiny Studio was originally created in my kitchen in my apartment in Bornheim in Frankfurt, Germany where I lived and worked for 11 years. Although my main profession at that time was working on the crazy FX Trading floor, I had also graduated with a top degree from a great London College of Art in Graphic Design, so I thought my love of art and design should not stop so I set about setting up The Tiny Studio, little did I know then what I was creating. I really gave no thought to what was happening, what was being born, or indeed, being reborn. You know, that kitchen very quickly took on the presence of something completely other than a place that had an oven and sink, and the works that would indeed be created in that Kitchen would redefine space and its capacity to stimulate the greatest of attitudes. What the Kitchen had said was blatantly simple, you did not need a massive fancy studio to be able to produce Art and Design, NOT BY A LONG SHOT! Art and Design have never been two separate subjects, the foundations of any great design lay in fine art, the two for me are inseparable and constantly influence one another. What I create in my studio as fine art will sometimes end up as a graphic covers for a bank, or indeed will end up in someone's collection. Experimentation with fine art is the nuts and bolts of great graphic design, and design is not just about grid systems and typography, although these are important, it's about a given philosophy and given approach to the love of solving communication problems. The Tiny Studio is about experimentation into all aspects and philosophies in Fine Art and Painting and the core of painting is about one perception of the world around us and how we interpret it. And its here where two critical ingredients are installed passion and fun, and I live my life by both with zealous
