The Wheat Straw

The Wheat Straw arose from the collaboration of two friends, trying to find an alternative to the single use plastic straw. We had the most simple idea: a straw made with... straw. How are they made? The straws are made from natural wheat stems. Once the wheat is ready to be harvested, the farmer keeps the cereal and we keep the stems. They are then processed to ensure that there is no dirt or insects. They are rinsed, boiled and then dried. Due to the fact that it is a natural product, the thickness and colour of the straws may vary a little from one plant to another. No worries! The straws are Gluten Free: by definition gluten is the protein that is in the cereal grains. There are traces of gluten in the straws but are still deemed gluten free by scientist. They are tasteless. They are biodegradable and compostable. They are environmentally friendly. ... They are The Wheat Straw !
