Hidden away on one of York’s least-photogenic streets, you’ll find a beautiful Grade II listed building, The Whippet Inn. A restaurant offering unpretentious food, unapologetic decor, and unrivalled service — all wrapped up in an almost sultry, laid-back atmosphere that you just sink into. Brimming with character, our menu has been carefully created to offer something special. And the drinks are no exception — featuring devilishly devised cocktails, an extensive and curated wine list, and our favourite producers from Yorkshire and beyond. We opened our doors in 2014 committed to injecting some theatre, flair, character and bloody-good local food and drink to one of the less-trodden streets in York. The goal is to provide our guests with a safe haven from the stresses of daily life, and a one-of-a-kind, end-to-end dining experience. We’ve become synonymous with superb beef, offering our guests a fantastic variety of ever-changing cuts & breeds, but we are equally obsessed about our other seasonally inspired plates, featured on our a la carté menu, focusing on locally caught fish and unique vegetarian dishes.
