The Yarn is a storytelling initiative founded in 2017 in Little Rock, AR. The organization leverages the power of story to break down barriers, gain greater understanding of our neighbors and change hearts and minds. Productions are centered around a theme that reflects social issues and the reality of life in the local community. The Yarn provides a platform to bring to light new and important narratives in order to foster a greater understanding of the human experience.
The Yarn provides the space, tools, and expertise for people to practice the art and craft of personal storytelling. We partner with community organizations, nonprofits, and businesses to host storytelling events that inspire confidence and self-reflection in storytellers and listeners, and deepen connections within and between communities.
Since 2017, The Yarn has been partnering with community organizations in Arkansas to practice storytelling as an art form and a powerful tool of communication. Through performance opportunities, participants shape selected life experiences into well-crafted stories and share them with members of their communities and beyond. By discovering and sharing universal themes, these storytellers can humanize pressing social issues and move these conversations forward.
