About ACMSS
The American College of Medical Scribe Specialists (ACMSS) is a non-profit 501(c)6 organization devoted to advancing the education, proficiency and professional standing of medical scribes, enabling both education-to-certification and employment-to-certification pathways. ACMSS is the only governing body charged with upholding the standards of excellence for certification, CMS compliance, certification accreditation, Continuing Medical Education, and evaluation. Through ACMSS, CMS, CAAHEP and our nation’s physicians, clinicians, and practitioners, the vision, mission and purpose of America of building 21st century patient-centered care, focused on wellness, is being achieved.
American College of Medical Scribe Specialists certifies those individuals who meet the minimum attestations toward professional certification as a Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS). This distinction underscores an individuals commitment and certifies the mastery of the myriad of skills required to assist clinicians (i.e., Physicians, NP’s, PA’s) with real-time clinical proficiency skills, “credentialed medical assistant skills, clinical documentation, and efficiency in the modern clinical environment. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) is programmatic accreditation for elevating the profession of Medical Scribe Specialists within accrediting institutions.
It is recommended that programs interested in becoming CAAHEP accredited review the Standards of the Medical Scribe Profession (https://www.caahep.org/CAAHEP/media/CAAHEP-Documents/MedicalScribeSpecialistStandard.pdf).
