Women coming out of trauma such as domestic violence, incarceration, or homelessness can stay for 6 - 24 months at The Beacon, a welcoming and sober 34-bed home in Sherman Hill. During their stay, they meet with a Case Manager on a weekly basis to determine their goals and needs. Within the house, they can participate in individual and group mental health counseling, substance use support groups, healthy relationships/domestic violence classes, weekly house meetings, DART education, sexual health education courses, and weekend social activities. We also connect our clients with community partners such as Evelyn K. Davis Center for financial literacy and coaching, Project Iowa, Children and Families of Iowa, or others for career development and job placement, and other nonprofits as specific needs arise.
