The problem of malnutrition in India is grave and needs urgent attention. 43% of Indian children under the age of 5 are malnourished. 74% children under 3 years and more than 90% of adolescent girls are anemic.
Malnutrition is so common around us that we often ignore it completely. This has disastrous consequences. Malnourished children are less likely to perform well and on average, have a 10% lower lifelong productivity compared to their peers. 1 in 2 child deaths in India under the age of 5 can be attributed to malnutrition. It is disheartening that in the 21st century, we lose half a million children every year in India to malnutrition. At The Breakfast Revolution, we have pledged to uproot malnutrition from our communities.
