About The Money Mammals powered by The Art of Allowance
We created The Money Mammals to transform how kids learn about money. Our goal was to turn the media's usual promotion of consumerism into something positive: excitement about money-smart learning. Our flagship movie inspired children's books reinforcing our Save, Share and Spend Smart mantra. This success led us to build an engaging digital ecosystem and introduce it to credit unions nationwide as The Saving Money Is Fun Kids Club. Parents loved seeing their kids enthusiastic about financial literacy, yet they repeatedly requested clear guidance tailored for themselves. Responding to this need, Chief Mammal John Lanza wrote The Art of Allowance. Now we're The Money Mammals powered by The Art of Allowance. We've evolved into a comprehensive family financial wellness program. And to bridge the transition from childhood to adulthood, we’ve added resources designed for tweens and teens. We remain committed to engaging young children—because an early start is fundamental. But what excites us today is empowering parents to guide their kids confidently along this important journey. Introducing an allowance sparks conversations about money and provides opportunities to learn experientially. It helps young children grasp foundational concepts like: Goal setting Distinguishing wants from needs Making wise financial decisions We also emphasize powerful habits for tweens and teens: Portionsaving—Setting aside a portion of any money earned Longinvesting—Choosing effective investments over speculative ventures Meansliving—Ensuring lifestyles cost less than earnings Our approach is straightforward, actionable and rooted in financial wisdom. We help break down societal taboos by initiating money conversations, allowing kids to learn and build confidence through practice. We seek partners committed to family financial wellness—credit unions that understand investing in money-smart families is strategically beneficial for their future growth and success.
