ABOUT: Our creative, THE NONSEMBLE [nonˈsämbō] was founded in Venice, CA in 2007. A group of lifelong friends working in Film, Television, Music, Marketing and Promotion decided that we might like to put our heads together and use our power for good, clean fun.
Each of the members of our group has always had a strong love for music and the artists behind the sound - specifically, if not especially - in Jazz, Jazz-related and other forms of AACM.
With that in mind, THE NONSEMBLE set forth to work with and for the music that we consider to be the United States' own and only native-indigenous music, Jazz. While the music is far from dead, the history and legacy of this beautiful sound is one that should be protected... while the new, the now and the next generations to keep the sound alive can do with a bit of nurturing.
We of THE NONSEMBLE produce, present and promote the music we love - and we love the people that continue make the music.
Over the years, we have been creating an international exchange for established and emerging Jazz artists. We bring talent from abroad to the home of the genre to share the music that they have imbued with their own history and culture and we take American-born Jazz artists out to see the many places and spaces where America's music has found a loving home - in nearly each corner of every map in the world.
To that end, we have also created a full-scale Jazz/Not-Jazz Festival between the beach and the boardwalk, and and at the beach in the eclectic and electric town of Venice, CA. The festival offers a free, fun and family-friendly presentation of today and tomorrow's Jazz under an open sky - with additional offerings for more serious fans of the music. We make those bigger shows available in and around the Venice - and greater L.A. areas.
To keep things going and growing, THE NONSEMBLE also has a Jazz /Not-Jazz music podcast, an audio/visual digital show, smaller events and more!
