The PIC Place

With a continuing demand for care to an ever-growing patient base, Community Dental Clinic reached a critical need for expansion. Patients were waiting more than 10 months for an available dental appointment. More than 70% of these same patients did not have a primary care provider and many needed behavioral health services. The solution would be bold and innovative. Community Dental Clinic would move to a new site and become the nation’s first dental expansion into a fully-integrated health home. In June 2017, The PIC Place opened in a 10,000 square foot renovated site. Inside, patients experienced healthcare differently. Patient care centered on their needs. Healthcare providers from medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health partnered together in care teams to meet the individualized needs of patients. Social determinant factors were addressed through case management. Today, this vision is thriving along with the patients served. Patients have access to quality healthcare that is affordable. Medicaid and Medicare patients are welcomed. Individuals without insurance receive discounted care through the sliding fee scale. The PIC Place, Partners in Integrated Care, is contributing to the overall health of the region one valued patient at a time.
