Hello, I am Anna Deeds, LPC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. In 2012, I was starting my private practice but was having a hard time finding the information that I needed to start a practice. I got the idea that I would blog about what I was learning as I built my practice.
That was the beginning of Therapist Private Practice. You can tell I am not good with names because I just used the keywords that I thought would draw in my readers. (I am terrible with names. I had a cat named "Kitty" when I was little. LOL) Anyway, it must have worked because I attracted a good many readers. Eventually, I turned the blog into a website. Later, I wrote a couple eBooks and added over 30 business forms, which I sell on the website.
When I started the blog, I was frustrated with how little therapists are paid. We put a lot of time, energy and money into our education. Yet, therapists are paid very little.
The mission of Therapist Private Practice is to help qualified professionals who are licensed in a social services field learn how to start and maintain a successful private practice.
My personal mission is to help therapists (myself included) make a decent income. Therapy is not a field where we are ever going to be rich. Most of us who chose therapy as a field did not go into it to be rich. We chose this field because we are caring people and wanted to help. Nevertheless, we should not have to struggle financially just because we chose a career that we can love and enjoy.
