At the Unit of Thermal Processes and Emission Control in Waste Management and Recycling, short TEER, we teach and research in the fields of thermal, physical and chemical conversion of fossil, renewable and secondary energy carriers. Special focus lies upon the reduction of harmful environmental effects. We focus our research on real-world application. By all our scientific curiosity we do not lose the practical value of our results. We see ourselves as a partner and service provider for industrial companies. Our services reach from conceptual planning all the way to the characterisation of different combustibles.
Since December 2023, TEER stands for “Thermal Processes and Emission Control in Waste Management and Recycling” replacing the former name “Technology of Fuels”. The renaming emphasises the expansion of our focus from a sustainable energy supply to thermal processes as an important building block for closing loops in the sense of a circular economy. The TEER has started its work in August of 2009. The previous institution has been the „Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet für Kokereiwesen, Brikettierung und Thermische Abfallbehandlung“.
