Rather than viewing new developments as buildings we begin with a place. Places are where you meet new friends, discover new food, explore art, or where people call home. The comfort we all feel at home comes from the familiar smells of food, traditions and customs passed down by our genetic families or created by our chosen ones. It’s these intangibles that make up the heritage passed down and created by each generation. Embedded in the DNA of the urban environment is heritage. Understanding how heritage plays a role in a site and listening to those whose lives will be engaged by a development is how new places can begin to be born.
