The World Foundry Organization is the recognized center of strategic foundry knowledge, designed to develop, enhance and improve the production of metal castings. WFO mission is to assist the industry and develop and disseminate technical knowledge. It was founded in 1926 as the CIATF by eight of the foundry world’s leading metal casting technical associations.
The WFO represents foundry and cast metals technology associations from over 30 countries. The top foundry-producing nations are all represented and meet annually at the General Assembly and Technical Forum. The 73rd World Foundry Congress is scheduled for Krakow, Poland, in September 2018.
The WFO works with all its members to support their activities. Additional working groups investigate and solve problems in key areas of interest. The most pressing current areas are Skills Development and Education, Sustainability, Environmental and Energy Management. Working groups also help educate the industry through publications and conferences in the fields of die casting, ferrous and nonferrous metals, cast composites and molding materials.
