ThisConnect is a mental health advocacy community set up to spark more conscious awareness and forwarding interventions on mental wellness, emotional literacy and suicide prevention through multimedia experiential art exhibitions and conscious dialogues. We have run 3 major multimedia experiential art exhibitions with over 50 other roving satellite shows in Singapore. Despite the pandemic, our art exhibitions reached more than 10,000 physical audience in 6 weeks. Notable visitors include Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung, Parliament Secretary Eric Chua, NMP Anthea Ong, MP Murali Pillai, MP Carrie Tan, MP Cheryl Chan, and local actor Adrian Pang. ThisConnect has been featured on Straits Times, Tatler Asia, TODAY, Channel 8, and 96.3 FM. In 2021, ThisConnect sets the record for the Largest Mosaic of Hand-Sculpted Masks with the Singapore Book of Records of the 6-month Masks of Singapore movement where over 572 lives that were changed from the self-awareness and participatory art workshops we conducted. We published the record setting Masks of Singapore Photobook under Fujifilm. This art project was showcased in a photo exhibition, roving across 50 satellite venues to date. In 2022, founder and artistic director Ming Kwang also authored 4 books under Penguin Books. He redefined the concept of a book in an unconventional fashion with raw transcripts and conversations with over 70 contributors in Singapore from all walks of life–medical professionals, mental health professionals, frontline workers, coaches, people with lived experiences, business leaders, policymakers, and politicians–on the topic of mental health, emotional literacy, as well as the interventions that need to be implemented from an individual, community, organizational, and national level, thereby making him the first author that Penguin Random House have published four consecutive books in one single setting.
