Thorp Perrow is home to one of the UKs most important collections of trees, shrubs and birds of prey - a leading light for arboricultural biodiversity and raptor conservation. The arboretum holds the UK National Collections of Ash (Fraxinus), Walnut (Juglans), Lime (Tilia), Laburnum and Smoke Bush (Cotinus). The earliest parts of the arboretum date from 1840 with a significant proportion of the collection planted from the 1930s. The bird of prey centre is committed to raptor conservation - actively involved in the reintroduction of endangered birds of prey into their natural habitat.
