Through the Heart is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides community and support for individuals, couples, and families experiencing ANY type of pregnancy loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, and termination for medical reasons. Our programs include Comfort Kits, educational materials, Dear Star Baby books, and the Wandering Angel Project.
No matter the situation or length of gestation, a loss can be difficult to recover from physically, emotionally and mentally. Because it is a sensitive topic not often discussed, many people do not know how to provide support for family, friends, and others in their lives who are experiencing a loss. Sometimes it is easiest to ignore the situation, act like it didn't happen, or offer a cliche statement, but that can be more hurt than help.
Almost everyone knows someone who has experienced a pregnancy loss, whether it be a family member, friend, co-worker, or neighbor. Therefore, pregnancy loss is a subject that needs more attention so we can all better understand the grieving and recovery process either directly or indirectly.
