About Thunderbird Industries
We have manufactured fiberglass canopies for tractors since our original founding by Jim Wiedmann in 1983. With strong aftermarket sales growth, we became OEM partners with major tractor companies, including Ford, New Holland, Case IH, AGCO, Kubota, and Bobcat. Following the sale of our original company in 2011, Jim Wiedmann re-emerged from retirement. Like many entrepreneurs, he found himself restless and decided not to retire, but to re-fire, relaunching under a new company name in 2013 — Thunderbird. With decades of industry respect filling our sails, Thunderbird Industries quickly grew in prominence as a leading manufacturer. After Jim Wiedmann’s passing in 2019, his son Matt took over operations and has continued the legacy — driven by a passion for quality products and integrity in business practices. Our primary facility is located in Avondale (West Phoenix), Arizona. We’ve also added a second shipping and fulfillment center in Alpharetta (North Atlanta), Georgia to support our growing business in the Southeastern U.S.
