PT Tirta Gemah Ripah (Perseroda) or also known as Tirta Jabar was founded against the background of the desire of the Government of West Java Province (West Java Provincial Government) to reform the management of water resources aimed at community welfare. This desire was confirmed in the Regional Regulation (Perda), concerning the Main Pattern of Water Resources Management in West Java. To strengthen the existence of the Company, the West Java Provincial Parliament approved the inauguration of the establishment of the Company as a Regionally-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) with Regional Regulation (Perda) No.12 of 2006, which was then followed up with Governor Regulation No.35/2007 which contained the elaboration of the Establishment Regulation.
The Company has focused on business sectors related to water resources management, namely the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) and Mini Hydro Power Plants (PLTM).
