Tom Dolan: Conquering the Oceans
Growing up in rural Ireland, where Gaelic football, rugby, and hurling dominate, Tom Dolan’s dream of becoming a top professional offshore sailor seemed unlikely. But fear of failure never stopped him. Nicknamed "The Flying Irishman," he pushed through challenges with determination, proving that hard work and perseverance make anything possible.
After training at Glénans and moving to Brittany, Tom honed his skills in the Mini 6.50 class before joining the Figaro Bénéteau circuit in 2018. His breakthrough came in 2024 when he won the prestigious Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, making history as the first Irish sailor to claim the title.
Now, Tom is back in 2025, determined to defend his title and make history once again
