Tonb is an engineering design-based software solution, developed with the C++ programming language. With 800,000+ already written lines of source code. The goal is to provide various engineering software solutions to help designers set up their Design-Space with finite degrees of freedom, which is crucial for optimization algorithms like GA.
Parametric Modeling in geometry-based optimization processes may be a challenge for engineers and designers to start the designing process from scratch. "Parent Design" is a concept that helps the engineers to begin the design process with an initial model closer to the final solution, based on the existing one. Two steps are inevitable for any Parent-Design, based on geometries:
- Parameterization of the models.
- Calculation of the parameters, as the parametric model approximating the original model by a predefined tolerance.
Both the steps require a supporting theory to provide the proper environment to develop due software tools. Tonb is the first software solution that proposed a novel theory called “Corner Curve Parameterization” (CCP) which mathematically supports Parametric Modeling.
Tonb, as an engineering design software platform, relies heavily on numerical methods which need discretized geometric space and Mesh Generation and it has its own domestic theory called local-front to handle this.
Besides the CFD applications, Hydrostatic & Hydrodynamic stability calculation is one of the most practical capabilities of the Tonb, as it has been primarily supposed to be a Maritime Software Solution.
