Founded in 2003, Toronto Muddy York RFC is Toronto’s only inclusive rugby club and one of only three IGR member clubs in Canada, as well as being a member of Rugby Canada, Rugby Ontario and the Toronto Rugby Union.
With a focus on inclusivity, both within Toronto’s LGBTQ community and abroad, Toronto Muddy York welcomes members of all skill levels, from absolute novice to seasoned player. Participants benefit from a rewarding game that is not only physically challenging but also fosters a profound sense of camaraderie both on and off the pitch.
Our name – Toronto Muddy York – is a tribute to the original name of our hometown. Our team colours – blue and yellow – come from both the City of Toronto’s coat of arms, and the Rugby School in Warwickshire, where the game was first created in 1823. Blue symbolizes tradition, loyalty, unity and strength; while yellow symbolizes success, athletic achievements and joy.
Our motto, “with you”, is a fundamental aspect of rugby as no player is alone – on or off the pitch and only as a team can we be triumphant. As such, Toronto Muddy York RFC has entrenched in its constitution that no one will be denied membership.
