TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA, designs sustainable fine jewelry. Known for the high standards of their unique designs, each piece is meticulously handcrafted in their own workshops following the traditional craftsmanship learned as the third generation of jewelers. Launched in 2009, the brand opened, the same year, their sophisticated store in san Sebastian. Sisters Amaia and Yolanda Torrubia, based in San Sebastian and New York, combine their distinctive idiosyncrasies. Very sensitive about environmental and social issues, the brand contributes to NGO with a percentage from proceed sales. TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA was promptly recognized internationally. Recipient of the prestigious “V Tahitian Pearl Trophy”, in 2012, 2013, 2014, was finalist of “FGI Rising Star Award” and finalist of Vogue’s “Who’s on Next” same years. In 2014 awarded “El Dedal de Oro”. The most prestigious fashion magazines and celebrities quickly recognized their special creations. Fashion designers requested their collaboration for NYFW. In 2011, Nicola Formichetti showcased TORRUBIA & TORRUBIA within his NY concept store. Amaia, graduated in Mechanical Engineering but her true vocation was the family tradition. During college, she began her formal jewelry training at the family workshop. Due to her immediate success, she launched “Amaia Torrrubia”. In 2009, Yolanda proposed to join forces to launch a Sustainable Designer Fine Jewelry line. Amaia is currently the Director of the San Sebastián Flagship/Workshop and serves as Designer/Jeweler of the brand. Yolanda received a J.D and Masters of Arts Administration degree in Spain. Her PhD dissertation in arts and law, led her to New York where she graduated from Columbia University Law School with honors as a Burton Fellow Scholar. Upon graduating, Yolanda worked with prominent fashion lawyers and designers. Currently, Yolanda lives in New York and practices law while working closely in the arts and fashion world as the brand’s Creative Director.
