At age 16, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. After spending the next 3 years nearly bedridden, I was introduced to a holistic doctor who helped me to get off of medication, and for the first time in three years, I felt like I had my life back. What initially started with great intentions to “get healthy” turned into a severe eating disorder- where I was working out twice a day, and eating a ton of highly processed protein products- all in the name of “health”. Two years later, I was diagnosed with early stage colon cancer. I was very grateful to catch it early and have it removed, but after my experience, I felt like I had been given the ultimate wake up call to truly look at what I was doing and putting in my body. Then, the light bulb moment happened. I wanted to create a product that embodied what health felt like- not just what it looked like. And just like that, Toto was born.
