🇪🇺 TRACHMED Project Project ID: 101182876 Call: HORIZON-MSCA-2023-SE-01-01 We are excited to introduce TRACHMED (Exploring Transnational Challenges: Climate Change, Migration, and Energy Insecurity in the Mediterranean), a groundbreaking research initiative funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Programme (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Staff Exchanges) and coordinated by Marmara University. 🔬 What is TRACHMED? TRACHMED is an international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral research project designed to address three of the most urgent transnational challenges in the Mediterranean: ✅ Climate Change: The Mediterranean is warming 20% faster than the global average, leading to extreme weather events, desertification, and water shortages. TRACHMED examines the environmental, economic, and social impacts of climate change in the region. ✅ Migration & Forced Displacement: The Mediterranean is a major migration corridor, shaped by conflicts, economic disparities, and climate change. TRACHMED explores migration governance, border policies, and the social dynamics of mobility. ✅ Energy Insecurity: The region plays a strategic role in global energy politics, yet it faces resource disputes, dependency on fossil fuels, and energy transition challenges.
