TRANO Architecture

TRANO Architecture was founded in 2013. TRANO’s projects comprise a series of private/public commissions and collaborations with Madagascar-based architects, who are well-recognized for their achievements in the field of Architecture and Design throughout the Indian Ocean region. Project types range from luxury resorts to social housing, shops, religious institutions and public buildings. TRANO is experimenting innovative architecture, and when given the opportunity, integrate all aspects of the architectural process: master planning, formal architecture, interior design, landscaping, furniture design and branding. Sustainability is also a major aspect of the practice while taking into consideration tropical environment, affordable and reliable building materials as well as effective ventilation principles. Whereas the practice is still at its early days, Joan Razafimaharo, the founder, has already gained work experiences at different architectural firms in Montreal, Canada. Trained in Urban Planning, Joan Razafimaharo then graduated in 2007 with a Master’s degree in Architecture from the École d’Architecture de l’Université de Montréal. She is now taking an active part at promoting Architect Profession around the country as well as engaging in think tanks and working groups on contextual topics ranging from her involvement with local communities as well as with government institutions
